| WELCOME TO THE WORLD OF KRYNN |
Sometimes, when life becomes too much to handle, it's wise to take a break from it all. However, not all of us can afford to fly off to some exotic location for a few days' rest. Thus, if you can't find solace without, try within ....... with your imagination. One of the best ways to do so is by getting cosy with a book in hand, ready to take the plunge into the wondrous world of make-believe. The only problem with this is that once the book ends, you're normally left with only some memories while you find yourself back where you were before you began reading.
That's where the Dragonlance series differs from any other book or series I've come across. Each of the 70 over books provide a link to the others, altogether weaving a complex yet mesmerizing tapestry around the lives and adventures of the heroes, villains and commoners of the fantasy world of Krynn. A tapestry that is, 'til today, still growing.
The series originates with the Chronicles trilogy which has sold millions of copies world-wide. It allows us to join the main 8 heroes as they are involved in the War of the Lance against the armies of the evil goddess, Takhisis.
The series continues with the Legends trilogy which recounts the exploits of the heroes as they strive to protect Krynn from having to endure another full-scale war while also attempting to stop one of their own, the Master of Past and Present, the archmage Raistlin Majere, from defeating the gods themselves so that he can take his righful place in the heavens.
Following this come several books detailing the histories of the heroes as well as the other characters involved in the War, including 2 other trilogies covering the history of the elven and dwarven nations.
This is followed by several collections of short stories and books about the lesser known folks and races of Krynn. They span a time frame of several centuries, dating back to when the dragons and first races first appeared.
The latest books revolve around the next generation of heroes and villains, and the dawning of the new age of Krynn where all the gods have left the people. The few dragons left on Krynn have grown tremendously huge and powerful, and a new group of heroes are sought to stand against them. There are also other books to cover the numerous untold stories of Krynn's past.
If you have not yet been introduced to the world of Krynn, it is definitely not too late to take that first step. If, for some unknown reason, you have lost touch with Tanis, Raistlin and the rest, HEY, it's about time you came back to the fold. If you are still immersed in the fantastic journey through Krynn, well ....... GOOD FOR YOU!!!
