REMARKS :
  1. A tounament was held to crown the first ever WWF Intercontinental Champion with Pat Patterson winning it in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.

  2. After winning the WWF Heavyweight Title at Wrestlemania VI, The Ultimate Warrior was stripped of his WWF Intercontinental Title and a tournament was held to determine the new Champion. The final was held on 23/04/90 in Austin, TX and the winner was Mr Perfect.

  3. "The Heartbreak Kid" Shawn Michaels was stripped of the title for failing to meet certain contractual obligations. A 20-Man Battle Royal was held on Monday Night RAW to determine the new Champion. Razor Ramon and "The Model" Rick Martel were the last two men and Razor beat Martel on 27/09/93 on RAW to win the title.

  4. The title had been vacated earlier in the evening due to controversy over a Jeff Jarrett and Bob "Spark Plug" Holly title match. Jarrett then went on to beat Holly to regain the title.

  5. On 22/10/95 at In Your House IV, "The Heartbreak Kid" Shawn Michaels was forced to forfeit the title to his opponent, Dean Douglas, due to injury. Later that evening, Razor Ramon beat Dean to win the title.

  6. The title had been vacated earlier in the evening due to controversy over a Goldust and Savio Vega title match. Goldust the went on to beat Savio to regain the title.

  7. After suffering a kidney injury at the hands of Faarooq, the title was declared vacant and a tournament was held to determine the next Champion. Marc Mero beat Faarooq in the final match on 23/09/96 in Hershey, PA, to win the title.

  8. After suffering a spinal injury at the hands of Owen Hart, the title was declared vacant and a tournament was held to determine the next Champion. Owen Hart beat Faarooq in the final match on 05/10/97 in St Louis, MO, to win the title.

  9. "Stone Cold" Steve Austin forfeited the title to "The Rock" Rocky Maivia on 08/12/97 in Portland, ME, and WWF owner, Vince McMahon proclaimed The Rock as the new Champion.

  10. On 12/10/98 on RAW, Ken Shamrock won a one night 8-man tournament to win the title, beating X-Pac in the finals, after HHH was stripped of the title due to injury.

  11. On 15/02/99, Val Venis beat Ken Shamrock to win the title, when the Special Guest Referee, "Bad Ass" Billy Gunn, refused to make the 3-count when Shamrock had the pin but made the quick 3-count when Venis had the pin.
