  1. A tournament was held to determine the first ever WCW Cruiserwight Champion, with the finals being held on 20/03/96 in Nagoya, Japan. Shinjiro beat Chris Benoit to win the title.

  2. On 11/06/98, on Nitro, Dean Malenko vacated the title and the match between Malenko and Chris Jericho at the Great American Bash was for the vacated title.

  3. On 13/07/98, on Nitro, Chris Jericho regained the title after proving that his loss to Rey Misterio at Bash at the Beach the previous night was invalid due to a technicality.
