REMARKS :
  1. According to WCW, Ric Flair, who was the NWA World Heavyweight Champion, was acknowledged as the first WCW World Heavyweight Champion during his reign.

  2. Due to his inability to come to a contractual agreement with WCW, Ric Flair was stripped of his title on 01/07/97, and Lex Luger and Barry Windham were name the top two contenders. Luger beat Windham on 14/07/91 in Baltimore, MD, to win the title.

  3. "Hollywood" Hulk Hogan had lost the title to The Giant on 29/10/95 at Halloween Havoc due to a contractual clause put in by Jimmy Hart that the belt could change hands on a DQ. Since Hart interfered to cause the DQ, the title was declared vacant. "Macho Man" Randy Savage then won the title in a 60-Man Battle Royal on 26/11/95 at World War III.

  4. On 27/12/95, in Nashville, TN, Ric Flair won a triangle match over Sting and Lex Luger by countout. He earned the right to challenge "Mach Man" Rnady Savage later that evening for the title. Flair beat Savage to win the title.

  5. Due to the controversy over Sting's victory over "Hollywood" Hulk Hogan on 28/12/97 in Washington, DC, he was stripped of the title on 08/01/98. Sting beat Hogan on 22/02/98 at Superbrawl VIII to win the title.

  6. "Hollywood" Hulk Hogan returned to beat Kevin Nash for the title on NITRO on 28/12/98 when Nash lay down to let Hogan pin him, leading to the reformation of the nWo.
