REMARKS :
  1. Ric Flair & Greg Valentine were stripped of the titles in April 1984. Paul Jones & Ricky Steamboat then won a 10-team tournament to win the title on 23/04/78.

  2. In December 1981, Gene & Ole Anderson were stripped of the title due to injury to Gene in October 1981. On 12/09/82 in Tokyo, Japan, the tournament final to determine the new Champions was held. Sgt Slaughter & Don Kernodle beat Shohei "Giant" Baba & Antonio Inoki to win the title.

  3. Ricky Steamboat announced his retirement on 25/12/83 and the title was declared vacant. On 08/01/84 in Charlotte, NC, the tournament final to determine the new Champions was held. Don Kernodle & Bob Orton Jr beat Dory Funk Jr & Jimmy Valiant to win the title.

  4. On 18/03/85 in Fayetteville, NC, Ivan & Nikita Koloff won the title but permission was given for the title to be defended by any two of Ivan Koloff, Nikita Koloff or Krusher Khrushchev.

  5. On 07/05/89, Mike Rotundo & Steve Williams were stripped of the title when Dan Spivey & Kevin Sullivan interferred to attack the Guest Referee, Nikita Koloff, in their match against the Road Warriors. On 14/06/89 in Fayetteville, NC, the tournament final to determine the new Champions was held. Jim Garvin & Michael Hayes beat Bobby Eaton & Stan Lane to win the title.

  6. The Steiner Brothers are regarded as the last NWA World Tag Team Champions and the first WCW Tag Team Champions during their reign upon winning the title on 09/03/91 in Montgomery, AL.

  7. Champions were co-recognized as NWA/WCW World Tag Team Champions through 01/09/93 when WCW withdrew from the NWA and the NWA withdrew recognition of the Champions.

  8. The holders at that time, Arn Anderson & Paul Roma then became strictly known as the WCW World Tag Team Champions.

  9. In late-July 1991, Scott was suffered a torn left bicep muscle and The Steiner Brothers were stripped of the title. On 05/09/91 in Augusta, GA, the tournament final was held to determine the new Champions. Arn Anderson & Larry Zbyszko beat Bill Kazmaier & Rick Steiner to win the title.

  10. A tournament was held to fill the vacant title on 12/07/92 at the Great American Bash. Terry Gordy & Steve Williams beat the Steiner Brothers to win the title.

  11. On 18/08/93 in Daytona Beach, FL, Brian Pillman of The Hollywood Blonds was injured so Steven Regal was allowed to substitute for him. Arn Anderson & Paul Roma then went on to beat Steve Austin & Regal to win the title.

  12. On 13/10/97 in Tampa, FL, Syxx was allowed to substitute for Kevin Nash of The Outsiders who was out with a knee injury. The Steiner Brothers then went on to beat Scott Hall & Syxx to win the title.

  13. On 04/06/98 in Peoria, IL, the Giant chose Bryan Adams to be his tag team partner in defending the titles against any 2 memebers of nWo Wolfpac since they were members of nWo Hollywood while Sting had just joined nWo Wolfpac. After losing the titles to Luger and DDP, it was announced that they would temporarily hold the title until Sting and the Giant met at The Great American Bash to decide who would hold the titles.

  14. On 14/06/98 at The Great American Bash, Sting beat the Giant to win control of the titles and on 15/06/98, on Nitro, he announced Kevin Nash as his new partner.

  15. On 25/10/98 at Halloween Havoc, Rick Steiner was left alone to face The Giant and his stand-in partner, Scott Steiner, when Buff Bagwell turned on him and left the ring. Rick however managed to hit the Bulldog on The Giant for the pin and the titles. Rick then chose Kenny Kaos as his new partner but the title was vacated due to Rick's injury in January 1999.
